Rotary Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup on Earth Day
Members and Friends of the Rotary Club of Arnprior turned out on Sat April 20th to help clean up an area around the former LCBO and the Algonquin Trail near Division Street in Arnprior. This was part of a broader Rotary effort that has taken place for the last three years; i.e., the Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup that involves scores of Rotary Clubs around the Great Lakes on both sides of the international border. By having cooperation on such a large scale, it helps drive home the fact that smaller local efforts, when combined, can have a significant positive environmental impact regionally and globally.
We were very pleased to be also part of and to throw our support behind the local Great Arnprior Trash Hunt! Overall, it was incredible to see all the willing hands show up this year to beat back the trash around town.
On Tues April 23rd, the next generation of environmentally conscious citizens did their part in cleaning up trash in the streets around the local high school. With the help of Rotary, Barbara Graham’s enthusiastic grade nine class at ADHS made a serious dent in the amount of trash in the downtown area. Hats off to all of them!
